The Fishing
Lake Yelcho and Rio Yelcho are world-class trout fisheries, and the Rio Yelcho is steadily becoming known for its salmon fishing, and the salt-water fishing isn't bad either. Our largest salmon caught last season pictured here measured just over 32 in girth and 50 inches long, approximately 68 pounds. On February 8, 2009 we caught the largest king for this year so far at 49 inches long by a 32-inch girth. Not bad for the second cast of the trip! We catch salmon in the river all season, but they run in larger numbers to spawn in March/April. The trout fishing in the upper Rio Yelcho and Lago Yelcho has been solid as well. The large eddies of the Yelcho have dozens of visible trout stacked up feeding just as in years past. The damsel fly sight fishing on the lake has been a solid producer as well. The possibilities that exist in our waters are amazing, just take a look at our gallery and see for yourself.
